I have a halloween party coming up at the university I attend.

I can’t afford to go and buy or rent the costumes available in shops, although I have numerous dresses and clothes to help me build a costume. I just need help finding an idea, because I don’t want to be the typical hippie, rock chick, goth, vamp or nerd. I want to be unique because over 150 people will be at the party, and I don’t want to wear the same as someone else.

Can anyone help me?

Zombie is an idea. You can rip some old clothes so they’re really tattered, then stain them with red. Salsa is good, because humans are really juicy and it has that chunky appearance. Then you need to give yourself a "death pallor," which can be achieved with pancake white or cheap greasepaint. Then some fake scars, maybe some soot. A bit of toilet tissue mixed with greasepaint and rubbed on your face will make for a scaly, lumpy appearance. Liquid latex is good for sticking stuff on your face, but that’s kind of a specialty item.

My mom won’t let me shop for a halloween costume this year. So I decided I should make one.
I thought of dressing up as a rocker /emosince I have many black/red clothes and jewleery.
and basicly, I don’t think it will work that well.

Can anyone suggest what I should wear?
With the clothes i just happen to have?

Here is a list iv shared a few times but it answers you question also.
Here are some of my homemade costume ideas.
You could be a scarecrow really easily.
Amywinehouse would be easy, or Sara Palin.
A zombie with all your old clothes.
A football player as long as you have a jersey.
An old lady.
If you have an old prom dress or something you could be Ginger from Gillian’s Island.
A gypsy would be easy, look up pictures it would be fun makeup too.
You could be an 80′s workout lady with leggins and big hair and head band.
You could be pretty much any animal for cheap all you have to do is paint your face and wear a solid color shirt or something.
Cowgirl.
An angel if you have a white dress, you can make a halo easily or buy one at walmart cheap.
My sister is being a girl/doll zombie thing with a kids dress she bought at the Goodwill.
Its really short and looks like a doll and shes going to wear those lace socks and cary a teddy bear that is missing an eye.
Its all about imagination because you can be almost anything you want with stuff at home as long as you aren’t lazy with it.
Makeup is the key to pulling it off.

My husband is a black man, and he is out of town, so I decided I want to be him for Halloween lol. Ive got the outfit, ive got the goatie and wig, now all i need is the skin tone! im a white women. I have called around to the major costume shops and nowhere has brown skin paint!! Any ideas, tips, anything on how to go about pulling a reverse Micheal jackson for the night???

Just use dark foundation and powder, they have darker colors for African-American women at any drug store.

I want a really good, authentic looking pirate wench costume for halloween this year. It’s my final year of high school, and I want to make an impression. The seller I found on eBay will make a custom dress, with bodice, chemise, etc. All I’d need to get would be the acessories. Is this worth it? I’m sure I would wear the dress more than once too. I’m trying to decide whether I should get a dress off eBay or find someone in my city to make one for me, like a professional costume shop or something. I would assume that would cost even more…
the money doesn’t matter too much to me. I have a good job. also, I would make my own costume except I can’t sew and I know I would butcher it. I don’t want a cheap, artificial costume, I want to look like someone out of a documentary. I never have good luck with thrift stores either x.x

I’m going as lara Croft and have everything but the gun holsters for her legs. I’ve been trying to find some in costume shops (all the real ones have been so expensive), but they’re all either waist holsters (cowboy types) or garter gun holsters (usually pink and frilly and very not lara croft). Any help finding a cheap, leg holster would be appreciated!

Almost any army surplus and "tactical" store would carry one. The more military simulation airsoft players would probably have one.

Airsplat (airsoft accessory store) sells one for $9. It will hold an airsoft pistol or a real one.
