Whats your favorite halloween costume from when you were growing up??

There were no costumes when I was a boy, you had to make do with one of your mothers old dresses or something similar and a burnt cork to blacken your face. A touch of your mother’s lipstick put the finishing touches. However, there were other things:

Halloween Barmbrack.

At Halloween we had Barmbrack,
The memory, it takes me back,
To happy days of innocence,
When a bag of sweets cost just two pence.

The dressing up, from door to door,
‘Apples or nuts’ the children implore,
With faces black from cold burnt ash,
Still there next day, after a wash.

The Barmbrack was a special treat,
It looked too good to dare to eat,
The prizes cooked deep within,
The thought it made my young head spin.

A small brass ring that shone like gold,
The secret that its finding told,
That you would be the first to wed,
If you clung to it all night in bed.

A matchstick meant you would see the light,
That you would know wrong from right,
But best was last, a thruppenny bit,
That you’d be rich, if you found it.

Such silly things, to a small boy,
Used to bring unending joy,
Now all that’s left is the memory,
Of the beautiful times that used to be.

Hey! I wanna have a halloween party for 9th graders. There will probably be about 10 people. Any suggestions for halloween themed things to do? Thanks!

im a teen and i love halloween !!!!!!!!! i dont want to go trick or treating but i love halloween movies i love dressing up and most of all..i love candy!!!!! but many ppl think halloween is childish

i am going to a halloween party and i dont mind going trick or treating i just didnt really enjoy it as much last year so im not going this year…and you made my point exactly…halloween is for all ages!

Oh sweets! Halloween is NOT childish. Some people can be childish…but Halloween is anything but childish. Besides, you’re still young and you know the old reply from EVERYONE: enjoy being young because when you’re out the house and on your own..it’s all downhill from there! LOL! Seriously, I miss being a kid and am a bit envious of my own kids and my 15 yr. old sister who gets to do all that fun kiddie stuff w/out "grown ups" giving her funky looks(I’m like a 40 yr. old teenager..I shop/wear clothes from Hot Topic, my hair has dark red streaks, I have a pierced nose…you know..stuff like that) like me… Do whatever you want for Halloween to have fun; IE, go to parties, if you want trick or treat(FYI..I’ve seen kids 17+ trick or treating, and I’m in Chicago..so don’t feel weird), pass out candy, dress up and just enjoy! Just so you know, my son is going to be Buddy the Elf, my husband maybe be either Jimi Hendrix or Indiana Jones, my baby toddler may be a lady bug or a witch, and I’m going to be Janis Joplin and we’re going to trick or treat and hang out at Freaky Frights in North Riverside.

I am stuck in a rut, I need a sexy costume for Halloween but have no clue what to be, it has to be something sexy and 2 pieced and show midriff, i work in a restaurant somewhat like Hooter’s so I have to where it there and also for Halloween. Also I want to be something where my boyfriend can be something that kinda matches me or goes with my costumes. Any suggestions? Thanks so much sweethearts!

Whats a good idea for a halloween costume without a mask or large bulky clothing? Keep in mind, I pushed this off until the last minute, so it should either be easy to make, or I should be able to purchase it somewhere (where its not sold out already). I’m a college boy, but its pretty freaken cold where I live, so I would prefer if the costume allowed me to be fully clothed. THanks for your help!
